Dance Department
The MiraCosta Dance Department encourages all students to discover their own unique artistry and share their joy and passion for dance. We strive to support their goals and visions and provide an organized pathway for students to immerse themselves and accomplish their goals in academia, dance training, and life-long learning. We are engaged in serving students interested in transfer to 4-year universities, obtaining a dance instructor certificate of achievement, exploring opportunities in dance as a career, or simply forming connections and building community in the arts. Come join us to unite, develop and inspire as movers and artists!
About the Dance Development Fund
The Dance Development Fund was established to support special expenditures to enhance the student experience in the Dance Department. Purchases may include stage lighting equipment, costumes, makeup, and dance studio equipment. The Dance Development Fund also sponsors Master Classes and guest speakers, the commission of original music for dance choreographers, and helps our students get to the annual American College Dance Association (ACDA) Festival.
About Friends of Dance
Friends of Dance is a non-profit community support organization that began in 1992 to benefit students in the Dance Program at MiraCosta College. Each year, dance scholarships are awarded through Friends of Dance to MiraCosta Dance Major students in recognition of their commitment, dedication, positive attitude, teamwork, and active participation in the Dance Program. Students must complete an application, write a personal essay, and interview with the scholarship committee to compete for these awards. Friends of Dance awards thousands of dollars annually through scholarships and Merit Awards to exemplary students in the MCC Dance Program. These scholarships would not be possible without the help of our donors, who have given so generously to help our students pursue their goals.
