Michael Krival

Michael Krival is an accomplished attorney, community advocate, and longtime supporter of higher education who practiced law in Southern California for more than 35 years. A resident of Carlsbad, Michael brings a unique blend of legal expertise, business insight, and public service to the MiraCosta College Foundation Board.
Michael's professional journey began in entertainment production and the construction industry before he pursued a legal career. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earned his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law, and later completed the UCLA Financial Planning Program. Throughout his career, he has advised individuals and organizations on a wide range of legal, business and financial matters, earning a reputation for thoughtful leadership and sound judgment.
A firm believer in the transformative power of education, Michael has a deep connection to higher education. He grew up in a family dedicated to academia, with parents who served as university professors and administrators and a sister who is a tenured professor and department chair. Those experiences instilled in him a lifelong appreciation for learning and the important role colleges play in creating opportunity and strengthening communities. His daughter has taken courses at MiraCosta both in high school and while in college and his wife, after receiving a bachelors degree, returned to MiraCosta to achieve a Certificate in Graphic Design.
Community service has long been a central part of Michael's life. He has served on the boards of numerous charitable organizations, and has continually sought opportunities to support and improve the quality of life throughout the region, particularly with regard to underserved communities.
As a member of the MiraCosta College Foundation Board, Michael is committed to advancing student success and expanding educational opportunities for current and future generations. He is passionate about supporting the college's mission and ensuring that all students have access to the resources and opportunities they need to achieve their goals.
