Books Not Barriers
Recognizing that tuition is not the only financial obstacle students face, MiraCosta College established the Textbook Loan Program for students who need extra financial help to obtain or get books that can cost hundreds of dollars. This initiative gives students the peace of mind they need so that they have all the materials they need, at no cost, to succeed. Each year, we loan an average of 1,000 books to students for free. Yet that only covers a fraction of the demand. With increased donor support, we can meet 100 percent of the need this upcoming year.
Textbook Assistance helps Students!
The average annual cost of books and supplies for college students is $1,250, an amount that is beyond the means of many community college students.
With college costs on the rise, a textbook scholarship will help the Foundation ensure that MiraCosta students are able to afford the necessary materials for their classes. Your gift of a textbook scholarship could make the final decision on whether or not a student attends MiraCosta College.
Join us in making sure textbook costs do not prevent students from gaining a college education. Now, more than ever, paying for textbooks is a financial struggle. Even a modest scholarship, such as $100, encourages and strengthens a student’s determination to succeed. Our goal is to ensure that the cost of textbooks is never a barrier for students, and we invite you to help remove these barriers to success.
